The City of a Hundred Horizons

Known in Italy and around the world as the ‘City of a Hundred Horizons’ for its unique hilltop location, Asolo is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Gathered within the ancient walls branching off from the Rocca, a 12th-century fortress, it preserves evidence of its thousand-year history in every glimpse. a stop at the Castle of Queen Caterina Cornaro, former Queen of Cyprus exiled to Asolo in the 16th century, is obligatory.

Because of the emotions that this small hill town arouses in its visitors, Asolo was (and continues to be) a destination for poets and writers, artists and travellers, who found inspiration and harmony here. These included the English poet Robert Browning, theatre diva Eleonora Duse, composer Gian Francesco Malipiero, and English writer and traveller Freya Stark.

Every second Sunday of the month, the Antiques Market is held in the streets of the historic centre.
